These antique prints are a window into 19th century Parisian life

Image: Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec’s December 1891 poster for the dance hall Le Moulin Rouge. Three thousand copies of this advertisement were displayed in the streets of Paris, making Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec famous overnight, and seen as one of the greatest print designers of all time.

 

From the Moulin Rouge to café concerts, these culturally rich prints of Paris from 1890 to 1905 have been collected for the Van Gogh Museum’s upcoming exhibition.

Ρημαγμένα σπίτια παντού…

Είναι γραμμένο λίγα χρόνια πριν και ήδη κάποια σπίτια δεν υπάρχουν. Ισοπεδώθηκαν, γιατί ήταν επικίνδυνα. Προτίμησα όμως να μην αλλάξω το κείμενο… 

      Κανόνισα την επίσκεψή μου σε μια νεκρή περίοδο από άποψης αδειών και ταξιδιών, για να μην είναι οι περιστασιακοί κάτοικοι . Ήθελα να δω την πραγματική εικόνα, την εικόνα του πετρωμένου χρόνου. Πήγα να δω την την Αυγή (Κάτω Λουκάβιτσα), ένα χωριό που έχει πλήξει το φράγμα του Πηνειού στην Ηλεία εδώ και μισόν περίπου αιώνα. Είναι μια μικρή αφήγηση που μπορεί να αφορά κάθε ανάλογη περίπτωση, κάθε περίπτωση βίαιης ερήμωσης.
