Physics: subject that governs the universe

It can be considered as the most superior subject although mathematics is an exception.

Physics is one of the most fascinating and imaginative subject I’ve ever encountered with. It is the study of the what is world made up of – the underlying stuff that gets turned into stars, planets and how it functions. Physics also serves as ground rules for chemistry, biology and other sciences.

Earlier It was believed that all in nature comes from combination of air, water, earth and fire. But then in 19th century Henry and Antoine lavaisor showed that both water and air could be broken down into other components called atom.

Today we know that atom constitutes of electron, proton and nucleus but that’s not the end protons and nucleus are made up of even more fundamental particle called Quarks.

 

Today the ultimate goal of physics is to achieve a single theory or set of equations that can explain the entire universe. To be more accurate ” unification of all four fundamental forces.”

• Electromagnetism
• Gravity
• Weak nuclear
• Strong nuclear force.

Now there arises a question:

How do we know that weather such theory even exists or not ?

Well we don’t know but we do suspect that it must be there. We suspect because we have seen diff theories being unified since our evolution in physics.

• Newton unified terrestrial laws and laws of heavenly bodies.
• Maxwell unified electricity and magnetism.
• Einstein tried to unify gravity and EM.
• Abdus salam unified weak nuclear force and EM.

And the most successful theory so far in unification is Quantum field theory. But the only problem is gravity which doesn’t seems to fit in this theory.

Another theory which claims to have achieved theory of everything is String theory.

 

But this theory is so complex that with today’s technology it can not be tested. Hence it is still believed to be a philosophy.

I do believe that it is possible although it may take some time, what about you.
