Θα ‘ταν αλλιώς

Ξυπνάει τη νύχτα και βυθίζεται
μες στον καθρέφτη.
Κρύβει τη μύτη του, τα μάτια μισοκλείνει∙
αλλάζει τα μαλλιά, φαντάζεται τα δόντια.
Θα ‘ταν αλλιώς τα πράγματα…
Μ’ αυτή την ίδια μοίρα σ’ ένα ωραίο περίβλημα.
Σε σώμα μέσα σαν κι αυτά που δεν κατάλαβαν
τη σημασία τους ανάμεσά μας
και σβήνουνε τόσο νωρίς σε χέρια ανάξια.

When I first read Homer, I did not experience the same sublime ecstasy as Keats. No wild surmise for me! Instead, I experienced mild disappointment, considerable confusion and strong annoyance.
